Game ideas for kids
Every idea below is something you could type into a game maker word for word. Pick one, change one word, and it's yours.
Silly
- A penguin who slides down a giant pancake
- Catch falling socks before they hit the floor
- A cat that grows bigger every time it eats a fish
- Bounce a jelly bean across a trampoline town
Fast
- Race a snail with a rocket on its shell
- Dodge comets on a hoverboard
- Deliver pizza across town before it gets cold
- A kart race on a track made of rainbows
Cozy
- Run a café for sleepy owls
- Grow a garden that changes with the seasons
- Help lost ducklings find their pond
- Decorate a treehouse room by room
Puzzly
- Push boxes onto buttons to open the door
- Match three socks of the same color
- Guide a robot with arrow cards
- Light every lantern in the maze
Adventure
- Explore a crystal cave with a friendly dragon
- Find the treasure on a floating island
- Bounce on mushrooms to reach the castle
- Fix the broken stars in the night sky
Make up your own
Pick one from each column. Read it out loud. That's your game.
A hero…
- a sleepy dragon
- a robot chef
- a brave snail
- a jelly alien
- a skateboarding frog
…somewhere…
- on the moon
- in a candy forest
- under the sea
- in a busy city
- inside a giant clock
…who…
- collects 10 stars
- escapes before the tide comes in
- delivers every parcel
- finds the missing key
- makes everyone laugh
Try rolling a dice for each column: 2, 5, 4 gives “a robot chef inside a giant clock who finds the missing key”.
Make your idea easy to build
- Start small. Get the hero moving first, then add the goal, then the extras.
- Say what you see. “A blue frog that jumps when I press space” works better than “a cool game”.
- One change at a time. It's easier to spot what went wrong.
